Created in 1941 in Los Angeles as a clever collaboration to sell slow-moving vodka, ginger beer, and copper mugs, it helped popularize vodka in America. This is a clearly labeled house field riff rather than a historical classic: Hibiscus adds tart berry depth and a dramatic crimson color.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz vodka
  • 21/2 oz lime juice
  • 34 oz ginger beer
  • 41/4 oz hibiscus syrup
