Don Javier Delgado Corona created the Batanga at La Capilla in Tequila in 1961, making its humble preparation part of the legend. This is a clearly labeled house field riff rather than a historical classic: Aromatic bitters pull warm spice and orange peel into the foreground.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz blanco tequila
  • 23/4 oz lime juice
  • 3Cola
  • 4Salt rim
  • 52 dashes aromatic bitters

Method

  1. 01Build over ice and stir with the knife used to cut the lime, as tradition demands.
  2. 02Add the bitters with the other ingredients and finish with expressed orange oil.
